Barton Aqueduct Pocket Park – Steel Railing Artwork

Barton Aqueduct Pocket Park | Steel Railing Artwork

Commissioned by Salford City Council and to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Bridgewater Canal, I was asked to work along a local primary school, (Godfrey Irmen Primary School), to produce a range of railing based steel artworks.

The pieces were inspired by the pupils designs and research into the canals history both then and now. A strong emphasis was also given to the local wildlife which is abundant due to the parks proximity to the Manchester Ship Canal and of course the Bridgewater Canal, (the world first commercial canal)!

The hard wearing galvanised steel artwork, really does add interest to passers by, (usually in cars on their way to the Trafford Centre), and it is a great feeling to have my work on display in such a beautiful and historic area.
