St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School – Printed Wall Mural

St Oswald's Printed Wall Mural

I have had a close working relationship with St Oswald's Catholic Primary School for quite a while now. This goes for all my school customers who get in touch when they need a creative intervention, (or just a sign)!

As part of a school initiative to help pupils to understand how important it is to 'care for our world', Patricia Carter (headteacher), asked me to produce an artwork to help underpin this message.

However, a large space and limited budget required creative thinking, so a printed mural incorporating drawings produced by the children, was chosen as the most appropriate medium.

After transposing the children's images and weaving the content together, the whole image was digitally printed and mounted on lightweight 'foamex' boards.

I tried to achieve a 'woodcut' printed effect in this piece, using a sympathetic block colour scheme. I have worked with many faith schools over the years who find it helpful to commission an artist to help them provide uplifting, spiritual artworks.

This is the third project that I have completed for St Oswald's, with the other two pieces incorporating mosaic and steel. They are a great bunch to work with!
